FINAL REFLECTION

My English progress (2008-2010)

I think I have improved my English since 2008, well, I hope this jEJje

I'm going to compare an email with "the fair" which I consider my last composition.

In my first written document, an email to teacher, there isn't any structure. Moreover, you can see that I had a lower vocabulary level and I always wrote with the same verbs. Another clear difference is that now, I know how to use the majority of the verb tenses. Besides, I have learned some phrasal verbs, for example: bring down, cut back on, stand for, take care.. and I can use more connectors than the last year.

One year ago I had a nightmare because I couldn't write fast and I needed to much time to write a composition, but nowadays I think I have overcome it.

Talking about oral presentations, the first I did isn't bad but I talked about simple topics with more easy words, constructions than in the last oral. What has been good from the bigining is the structure used in power points. Maybe in the first oral I spoke in a fluid continum enough because I had been preparing the oral, but now I can mantain an improvising conversation without too many complications. The most difficult for me is the pronunciation. It has improved but not much.

MY ENGLISH COMPETENCE in 2010

If I have to choose an oral presentation, it would be the second oral of this year where I talked about my research project. I think it is the best of all 'cause I loves the topic, it reflexes all what I know. What makes it the best of the rest is that I used some phrasel verbs like pick up, hand up... connectors, and of curse, the quantity of technical words that I had to learn. Moreover I was looking at the public ( a difficult thing for me).

Well, isn't easy choose the best composition because I believe any of my writings are perfect. I would take some things of ones and other things of another ones. For instance: a good idiom is:

"If you put your mind to it you will do it!" which you can found it in "Tell me what is one of my favourite pets". "After Cosmetic Surgery, the 'Do Over'", a piece of news, I can say it is the best if I refer to the structure even on it hasn't the best content.

Therefore I don't know what to say to you...

Tarsiers live in Philippines and some Scientists work for preserve their habitat.
Conservationists are worried that the animal's popularity with tourists may be damaging their welfare and environment.
This animal fit into the palm of a hand, but can leap five metres in a single jump. Eyes are
the biggest part of his body and they can turn his neck more than normally.
What is sad is that they can only live twelve months.


Well, I have tried this piece of news because I have been surprised when I have seen the animal.
I had never seen a thing like that so I'm interesting about tarsiers.
I believe that the protection some gives to these animals it's a positive thing but on the other hand I think we have to leave the nature takes his own way.

Opinion

Nowadays mind body therapies are very investigated and they seem effective but some people think they aren't. In my point of view, mind body therapies work, eventhough can't cure ilnesses.

Firstly, is clear that when somebody is suffering because of a depression or something similar, he or she goes to visit a psicologist. These kind of doctors help the patient without pills, only talking, and the most of time it works. Besides, there are ilnesses which don't need the traditional therapy like anorexy... they need mind body therapies.
But, however I believe sometimes is more effective use both the traditional and the mental treatment. It depends on the sick person.

To sum up, my opinion is that we will live better with the success of two treatments together and the mind body treatment isn't a waste of time.

THE FAIR

This weekend has been wonderfull!

Yesterday I went to Figueres because is the Santa Creu's party. There, I met Marta Grau, Fran, Pablo... and we had a good time dancing, talking, drinking and riding on the attractions.

Firstly I changed my money, before going, into coins in case any fair workers took me in. So in that way when I had to pay I had the right money.
After that, I arrived there at half past eleven. Robin drove to the place.

Now I would like to talk about las night but I would have to tell you so many stupif things that I prefer not to bring down our reputation so I'll leave it as it is.

At the end of the night some of us stayed to sleep in Figueres at Adria's house, my cousin.
It was all brilliant but today,.... everyone has swollen eyes.

Tell me what is one of my favourite pets

A lot of animals are succesfull but one of those is my favourite.

I suppose some of you, will know which is is apart from the dog.

Well, for who doesn't know it, I'm going to give you some clues;

It lives is the jungle, normally surrounded by others of its specie. Sometimes the female doesn't accept her own daughters or suns and always there is one male who is the chief of the group. These animals are similar to us butone of the difference is that they are more hairy than humans.

I can imagine you get it, so now I'm going to tell you what I would like to do. One of my dreams has been visit monkeys and its place of residence, but at this time it isn't only a dream, it's more than this. Is spite of that, I couldn't study veterinary, I'll spend one month minimum in Africa or Costa Rica with monkeys learning how they live. If I'm realistic, is complicated full field it but I think that If I haven't got any plans for the future I might as well not be here.

Therefore I would be delighted to look after monkeys.

A piece of news ( Blood Test May Reduce Biopsies After Transplants)

Summary:
A company in Brisbane says that exist a text called AlloMap which consists on a blood test that analyzes genetic activity to find out if there coulf be rejection after a heart transplant. Some doctors say the test is efficient but when the new technology was aplied, it didn't give good results, so nowadays doctors continue with biopsies, even though it is more expensive and complicated. ___


Although Science is very advanced, we have problems with a lot of things yet. For instance, here you have an example. Moreover microorganisem field isn't clear, we can't discover how to stop their quick proliferation. Also Science sometimes brings disasters, so who thinks our life depends on it, he or she makes a mistake.

A little bit of everything

If it was for me this composition would be very depressive. I'm not well with myself, I'm not happy with my life at the moment because things aren't going well. But I don't feel like talking about this, so I will only say to you what I'll do in the next few hours or in the next days.

Today after I finished my extra-classes I will meet Monica, Ari, Riki... and other friends to go to have dinner to celebrate Ari's birthday. I believe it'll be good because we haven't gone out together for a long time. Then, some of them are going to the concert in Castelló, where "Els Pets" are going to play tonight.

Well, my weekend is appearing very boring, I'll stay at home studying and studying, and nothing else. Consecuently I hope to get a reword like good marks.

Usually, when the weekend come I take my hand bag and I go to Robin's house but from now on it'll be different, I'll have a change. I'm going to stay at home so it looks bad.

(I have to think a plan which makes my life better.)

Are You SUpersTicioUs¿?

Yesterday while I was watching "El hormiguero" this topic came to my mind because Sergio Dalma broke a mirror and some people of the public got scared and they shouted at him: please don't do it! You can see where my inspiration comes from.

Some people think, break a mirror minds you'll have seven years of bad luck.

Do you believe it¿? And why?

Maybe it is true but I have never checked it. The thing is I don't think it could be true.

Other superstitions are:

- if you walk through under steeps wood it can fall dawn on you.

-if you open an umbrella inside a place you'll be unlucky...

In my point of view all these thoughts are stupid things and they pull my leg because people search their own future. Not always, people get what they deserve because you can go through a bad moment and things aren't as you would like them to be.

I would like you to say something about it so I would know your opinion.

A MOnTH WiTHoUT liFe

When I started second of batxillerat I thought the first term would be the most difficult of the year owing to the Research Project but when it passed, my feelings changed.
Then, I believed that the worst was still to come, but now, is the time for not stopping, not sleeping, study very hard and do a lot of Philosophye summaries and others..., as well as not much free time to do anything.

Consequently, I'm planing my timetable, but nowadays I can't get used to all what I must do.
The best advice I can give myself is that I need to be relaxed and to be alert. It'll be difficult for me because I'm not constant, well, I always do my homework... but I need to have breaks so as not to get fed up with all that.

The only thing I hope is that my classmates will help to create a relaxed atmosphere to not ::::::::getting stressed.

Concretly I hope Marta doesn't remind me every day about the amount of work to do. Jejje

Hello dad and mum!

Today has passed one month since I left home, so I have thought it's time to write to you. I have a lot of things to tell you about Cameroon because it is very different from Catalonia and Spain.

Do you want to know what my residence's place here is like?
I sleep in a hut and arround me there are cows and other animals, it's funny because the other day a goat come into my hut and when I saw it I was scared because I just woke up.

Well, talking about people, they are very good persons, they always want to help one to each other but Cameroon is very poor. Some children can't go to school because the family don't have transport and moreover they don't have money. What is the worst is the ill children, it makes me very sad because the majority suffer a sickness because they starve. Every day I cure fifty boys and girls.

I would like to do more than I do.

Don't worry about me, I'm well.

TGIF everybody!

Today most of you are happy because you have a week's holiday but I am not, fortunatly because I think I'll be working everyday. So, I have thought in some way to do more work in a shorter time and as I won't have enough time to do all my homework, I have decided do a composition about philosophy to go through the lesson and at the same time, practice English.

Well, let's go..
I'm going to talk about hapiness which is a topic talked about by Schopenhauer, the Nietzche's teacher. Schopenhauer defense the irracionalism and he is a Romantic person. He was born on 1788 and he died on 1860. His philosophyc starting pount is that existence is absurd, only is used to fix the species on the Earth. He always thinks there are pain and suffering life and he tries to go on without religion and the consolation. His arguments to say that happiness is not possible are:
- Human are moved by wishes.
- It's impossible not to suffer because if we satisfay our wishes then we are bored so we are disatisfied.
- If I don't make real my wishes, because 'm generating more of them, agains and again, also I'm disatisfied.

Well, in my opinion this man is right, We can only smile because punctually we are good but generally we can't be happy.

Anyway, you can suppose this theme is more complicated and I daren't to go in depth with this topic because I haven't learned it yet.

A STRANGE FEELING

Hello!

This is my last composition to this term.

I suppose everyone of you know Robin has passed his driving test. You will ask yourself why I feel strange...
Ok!, that is because I have been going out with him for two years and I am used to see him without car... eventhough he has car, I think he can't drive because I see him like a little boy. I know he is eighteen but it is difficult taking for granted he is enough old to do a lot of things.
Well, as you know why the stranges feelings, I will tell Robin I have read his entry talking about me and I want to tell him thanks for all and thanks for stay close to me and be like he is.

Apart from wishing you everything I hope all goes good in London, I hope you get high marks.

A DiFfeRent Expirience

Hi guys!
This entry is going to talk about a new expirience for me. In Fortià, concretly in my street lives a boy who is 10 years old and studies third of primary. His parents are Lithuanian and they have lived here for 4 years. The boy started to go Fortia's school but he didn't understand anything and moreover he didn't pay attention because he doesn't like school. The time passed and my parents and his parents got friends. One of the last summers I wanted to teach Catalan or do extra tuition to people who need it, so Eimans's parents came to visit me because they had decided to bring his child to my classes. Nowadays I help him to get some money.
At first I didn't know how to start to teach him because I didn't know his level, etc. I made him do a dictation and I could see he didn't know anything, at even how to write. He pretended to write something but really he couldn't. So I was shocked and the next thing we did was learn the alphabet, the vowels and the consonants. Luckily now he can write and also he knows tha basic grammatical rules.
I'm very proud and glad for him because he can continue a normal class.

A Sultry World Is Found Orbiting a Distant Star

This piece of news talks about discoveries of stars, possible planets and other space's elements.

This bring me to think on our planet and about what we are doing to destroy it, so I'm going to talk about the Earth and I'll use some words related to the Environment, taking advantage of what I have studied them in class.
First of all I tell you that there is no solution to save the planet from pollution or from the crisis. Talking about pollution, is definitly impossible to arrange the Earth because it's too late so in the future the people who has money will go to another planet and poor people will be ill and they'll die. I know I am very drastic but the real life is like you can read here. Therefore if we discover new renewable resources they will not be enough to stop with all that.
Well, and less not speak about crisis. I don't know if it will be able to be repared because work at the moment is too bad.
I would like to have hope but I have already lost it.

Do you think the crisis will improve? When?

Is my mind clear?

Today my class has gone to Girona's University. This has been the last visit to the Universities so it means I won't get more opportunities to obtain information about different careers.
Now is the moment for thinking seriously in my future life because the time is going on and I am every day nearer the final decision. In Girona I have listened the Biology chat but I really want to study veterinary, it is my wish and I am going to fight for it, but I don't know if I am not able to get in it because I need a 7,5 and there are subjects which stop me getting the mark.
Also I have to look for the registration prices. I hope everything goes well because now I have other personal problems and things are more complicated.
Anyway, now I can try the "selectivitat" subjects and I am not sure about it. If it was left to me I would choose Biology because I think I can pass it, but If I try this, then the other subjects like Chemistry, Maths and Earth Science which I can take the exam willingly round up less. So I don't know what I can do. It's a difficult decision.

As you can see I haven't made my mind up.

What a weekend!

Hello everybody!

This month is full of parties because it is Carnival time. Last weekend I went to the Roses's carnival. Before going there I went to Berna's house with other friends and we had dinner together. We had supper at eleven o'clock and the dinner was prepared by Iñaki, Berna and me. We ate roast potatoes with grilled meat which were bought by Galí. After that we started to prepare ourselves, I mean, we dressed up of as Guti and at 2 o'clock in the morning we caught the but and went to Roses.
In the bus some og them sang... because they were a little bit drunk. Once there, it took us half an hour to find the place where the party was. We asked the people who met on the street where was the carnival but at that time all of them were paraletic and each of them said to us different things.
Well, finally when we found the marguee, we saw other people and friends and we spend a good time. Moreover I met Pablo, a friend who I hadn't seen for a year.
When we got fed up, we decided to return home by bus but the problem was that the bus was going one hour later so I looked for somebody who drive me to Castelló to Berna's house. I was lucky so I could get back. All these would be ended if the next day or on the same day, as you want, I wouldn't have had to go to work. I could sleep two hours.

Saturday when I finished work I went to Castelló again and we went to "El Chic". I was absolutley exhausted but I kept on.

Do you know what did I do on Sunday¿?

ORAl PREsENTAtION

Good afternoon!

This entry is dedicated to my second oral presentation. It talked about my research project. I think it wasn't prepared well enough because I was concentrated and worried about my chemestry exam. I have to add that this time I have had more difficulties because I had to prepared it alone, without Robin's help.

Anyway, from the 10% which the presentation represents, my mark woulb be a 9% because I was supported by a power point with images related with what I was talking about. Although I spoke for seven minutes I was in time and the oral presentation wasn't boring.
The part of the body language wasn't too good because sometimes I read the paper when I forgot some things. As far as the eye contact I must say I improved since last oral presentation, I looked most of the time at people and not only at Sonia.
As you know I did some gestures to try to attract the people's attention (5%).
Talking about the structure I could say it was good so I believe this part of the mark would be a 10% and the content would represents a 35%. I know it needs changes but at the moment I did the research project, I did the best I could.
Moreover I extended my vocabulary because I learnt a lot of new words like kidneys, liver... in general my language was better than the last oral but it is a part I must improve.
I used connectors, some fillers and a varied vocabulary. Here my mark would be a 17%
To end with it, my pronunciation was comprehensible but I pronounced some words badly. My voice wasn't monotonous and I spoke fluidly but with something missing. (7%)

Final mark: 83%

Early treatment hope for tinnitus (news)

Hello guys!

Today I am going to give to you my opinion about a scientific peace of news.

Nowadays the world is full of acoustic pollution and is normal that the people who live in it suffer auditive trouble, often grave.
Sometimes we are the only responsables for these problems because we turn on the music too loud or we use earphones too long. All these little things are which put in danger our health. Now a part from thhis, when we are born start to hear a lot of terrible sounds and slowly our ears get hurt.

On my own it is necessary for someone to come up with some treatment but more than anything else we have to reduce the volume because if we don't do it then the treatment won't be efficient.
The last option would be to forbid disco's, MP3...
We must be concious about what is tinnitus because if we had this illness we would have strong difficulties.

Do you know somebody who has some of these type of problems?

My resolutions

Well, we have entered 2010 and like every year I have made my mind up about changing some things.

The first one is to study more. The first term was so good but I'm sure I can better it in some subjects like English. What I want is to get enough mark to go into Barcelona's University. I could say this is my obsession and that it is the most worrying for me because if I couldn't get place there, I would have to go to Saragossa and it is very far... If it were for me I wouldn't leave my town, near your parents life is much easier.
Another resolution is to keep on my weight down or even lose a bit of it. You don't think I believe I'm fat but easily I put weight on and then I try to reduce it. I want to cut down because it isn't good to have too much weight because you can get stretch marks.
Two more would be: to win the lotery and be better person than last year.

ANIMAL CRUELTY AND FREE SPEECH (NEW) New york times

All 50 states have laws against animal abuse but nowadays in all countries there is animal abuse. It's a pity that animal cruelty even exists.
Often on the TV there is news about torture of animals.

In my view the laws against this type of things should be more strict because only giving fines and sending them to prision isn't enough. Somebody should change the law. I would punish these people torturing them, because then, they would know what is animal abuse.
I don't understand how there are people who enjoy watching animals being tortured and killed. I know about a family who live in Fortia, actually on my street and they sometimes prepared cockerel to fight or dogs to fight. They don't give food to their animals and moreover the animals are tied up.
Somebody should lock them up.
How you can see I am totally against animal abuse. If you think it is funny, you have to know there are other things to do without killing dogs, for example, If you like causing harm then go and bang your own head against a wall.
